DERKSEN CO. SUPPORTS THE 5TH ANNUAL OSHKOSH WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT BOCCE BALL TOURNAMENT

Over the last weekend in August, Derksen Co. sponsored teams playing in the 5th Annual Oshkosh Wounded Warrior Project Bocce Ball Tournament. This is a yearly event held at the Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Derksen Co. has been a proud sponsor of this event since its beginnings and has participated in the tournament for all five years of its operation. Derksen Co. has a history of community outreach in the Fox Cities and participates in a number of charitable outreach programs, primarily focusing on supporting veterans and Native American communities.

WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT

The Wounded Warrior Project is a charitable organization that helps veterans and active duty service members. The organization’s primary focus is on veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or were wound while serving in the military on or after September 11, 2001. More than 52,000 servicemen and women have been physically injured in recent military conflicts. Approximately 500,000 are living with invisible wounds, from depression to post-traumatic stress disorder, and around 320,000 are experiencing debilitating brain trauma. The Wounded Warrior project seeks to provide individualized treatment and support for service members who have sustained injuries while serving the nation.

OSHKOSH WWP BOCCE BALL TOURNAMENT

Founded by David Willeford in 2013, the Oshkosh Wounded Warrior Project Bocce Ball Tournament has raised over $40,000 in its five years of operation. Businesses in the Oshkosh area and surrounding Fox Cities, alongside Derksen Co., sponsor teams in the tournament. The tournament’s entire proceeds, which numbered over $9,000 this year, goes to benefit the WWP and its causes.
